Angel Shark take the Day

Angel Shark - click to see more photos

Tuesday 28th September 2010

Todays fishing was not the best for the Big Rays but thats fishing folks not allways the Big One!
On the morning 9am to 3pm trip the Rays were very disappointing and did not put in a show. A Variety of smaller eadible fish was caught and the top 2 anglers were Ann Wardman from England with an Atlantic Bonito and Jeffrey de Lizer from Holland with a Sierra Tuna.
WE had a Family After noon charter 3pm to 8pm with the Heath family and future son in law Jon. They had a wonderful afternoon of fishing with Dad Pete Heath best fish being an Angel Shark. Mum Claire Heath along with the variety of smaller fish she caught managed to claim the title of Ninja Mum with catching and releasing a Turtle. Jon Penzer caught the only Ray of the Evening with 25 kilos/ 50lbs specimen. Daughter Claire Heath matched Dad with a nice catch of another Angel Shark (Beauty and beast from the deep on left). Well done to the Family and thank you for fishing with Dorado again. Check out the photos of some of todays catches click more photos.

Monday 27th September 2010

Women rule over the men for the last few days Ray fishing. This Beauty says it all 90kilos/200lbs of muscle could not beat Ronnie Cowings from Newcastle England. Even after running off more than 100meters of line and towing this tiny dot Ronnie around the boat full circle before she could apply full pressure and fight it on 50lbs line. Most of the men were awestruck at its size. WELL DONE GAL!

Worse than having a Baby!

Sierra Tunas - click to see more photos

Friday 24th September 2010

Today we anchored up west of the Island in shallow water in persuit of Sierras, Bream, Silverfish and Big Rays.
First species to show interest were the Sierra Tuna and within 30minuets 2 specimens were landed on live bait using light tackle. Mama Shark from Sweden was one of the succesful anglers and she went on to catch a 23 kilos/50lbs Sting Ray. The Ray hugged the bottom for 20 minuets before she could bring it to the boat and her words to describe this battle were ¨ Worse than having a Baby¨. But she delivered this baby on time a healthy specimen graced the deck. We do not approve of gaffing these species for photo shots which is unfortunately all to often the practice with some crews which we think is totally unjustified just because they can not handle them properly. WELL done Mama Shark and all anglers on board today with your catches.

The top anglers are John Cowings from England who had a 40kilos/80lbs Sting Ray and Mathias Pfeifer from Germany who had a 50kilos/100lbs Sting Ray. Very Bad Luck to the Angler who lost the Monster Ray after playing it for almost an hour and well done to the other anglers on your catches big or small.

This week todate we have been bottom fishing with our clients and although some of the days the currents have been stronger than we would have wished for Rays have been caught but not the monster ones we are used to playing.
Along with the Rays a variety of smaller eadible fish has been caught and yes the usual Turtles which grace the lines.

Thursday 9th September 2010

Today saw us bottom fishing and the Angler of the Day award goes to 8 years old Adrian Miranda who caught a nice size Sting Ray. Siesta was a must for him as fighting this fish proved to be a very exhausting experience. Bad luck to Kayla who lost her Turtle during the fight.

Tuesday 7th September 2010

By popular demand for bottom fishing for Rays from our clients we decided to arrange 2 trips and it turned out to be the right choice averaging 13 Rays with weights of individual fish surpassing 60 kilos. Turtles turned out to be surprisingly abundant with 4 on one trip. Besides these creatures a vast amount of Bream and silverfish. All our young budding anglers were introduced to real life scenario of playing their best fish. This week we are planning more for those who wish to catch specimen Rays and maybe a few shark as last week we saw 4 Hammerhead around the reef we are fishing.
